Journal Move Complete

I’ve been realizing that my home page wasn’t accomplishing anything, and that I’d probably be better off with my blog as my home page. So I’ve moved it from the journal directory to the home directory.

I’ve updated everything on the site to reflect the change (to the best of my knowledge), and the menus should all work. I’ll update external links at directories as soon as possible.

Back to posts about writing tomorrow.

    Hello Buddy,

    Good site. Some interesting and knowlegeable posts man :) I know, I am creeping,lol. Hopefully I can produce something like this myself. Where did you buy your templates from?

    Hopefully one of you kind souls may be able to help me out somewhat here. I am searching for someone who I was reliably informed told was a member here. They used to use the tag ‘droopylaughs’.

    You see I am hoping to start my own website on health type goods for things such as: best teeth whitening strips (hence the where did you get your templates from,lol) but am having realllll difficulty getting hold of dropshippers for these goods. I had been in touch with this guy but my PC got stolen and unfortunately had all my contact details on it (I know, I know, should have backed it up :( )

    So if you people have heard or seen anything of him could you pm me please? Failing that maybe one of you people knows someone?

    And, which hosting do you use as I keep hearing not so good things about the host I am considering of hosting my site with. Also any other informative tips you can give re starting up my site would be helpful and very appreciated.

    I hope that someone has helpful knowledge about this

    Well, two questions I can answer: my host is InMotion Hosting, and they’re good. I recommend them.

    The template: I didn’t buy the template. I did the basic site design in plain HTML + CSS, which you can see on the poetry pages. I used Starkers as a base for the WordPress theme. I walked through Small Potato’s WordPress Theme Tutorial, and used CSS Tricks: Designing for WordPress for pointers, to make a WordPress theme that matched the rest of my site.

    I created the parchment graphic from a scan of parchment paper, using Painter and Photoshop to create shadows, add the edge shading, and blend the graphics so that they’d tile. The blue background is from combined scans of decorative paper (unryu), also worked on in Painter and Photoshop. The title font is Formal 436.

    The pine painting is from a picture of a tree in my yard. Using Painter, I faded the forest and grass background into the parchment, faded parts of the branch and needles, and used Painter brushes to emphasize the foreground branches and needles, to give it the illusion of dimensionality.

    It was a lot of work. I could code a theme faster the second time around, but I probably spent a solid week on the graphics, and that probably wouldn’t go much faster.

    No, nobody has. There are occasions when it doesn’t load on the first try, but I figured that was either the server being heavily loaded, or some host between me and this server being slow.
